I have, in spite of all else, not forgotten the Lutrell fantasy, but I’ve only managed to steal a few hours a week as a treat, so there’s not much to show yet…

This blog is solely for textiles, with a little bit of silversmithing now and then, and will mainly be for my historical stuff.
Please do not use my images or pin them without permission.
My interests range from ancient greek to tudor periods, and I tend to be an artisan rather than an academic - not that I don't do research, I just prefer getting my hands dirty.
I dye, spin, weave, sew and embroider, and have been doing so for several decades...
If you click on the thumbnail images in this sidebar, they will take you to tutorials and finished pieces
and I am the lucky recipient of that beautiful silver pussycat pin a few posts ago-absolutely gorgeous cat-I;m sure hobbes could have made…er…something,,,but I bet it wouldn’t have been half as special as the cat Tanya made me!
thanks you again Tanya-your work is stunning!

Hobbes modelled for it. He’s very good at modelling because it means not moving. Hobbes is very keen to conserve all of the calories

Love the sidelong look on the face of that little character in the corner!

Well, when you get to see the face attached to the feet you might understand why

More interesting feet – they seem to be dancing.

That’s nice. I haven’t decided what I want to be when I grow up yet

I am toying with the idea of doing some of the Star Wars characters in your Lutrell Psalter style for a friend who is a S W addict.
Actually could be a small segment of a Bayeaux Tapestry type scene!

I’ve just ordered a Star Wars colouring book to get a jump start on the design ideas. And will have to spend some time with the DVDs to refresh my memory of the ‘iconography’
I think it would be a giggle to do a commentary narrative border like the Bayeaux tapestry has, with medalions for some of the characters.

Aren’t there Star Wars toons as well? You will need to watch those for artistic inspiration

Snork -as I emerge three days later: ‘ but it is for *art*…’

My medieval art history prof used to refer to many of the frescos that she showed us as the ‘toons of the period.
