Ba-nana nana nana naa

Strip one. ( that’s a phonetic rendering of stripper music, in case you were wondering)

Its wierd, I knew in my head how big this was, but didn’t realise how big it was until I unrolled it and it took up the full width of the spare ( king sized) bed.

I’ve cut and hemmed the next piece but I haven’t started drawing on it yet because the plywood I’ve got for a drawing board takes up the entire living room floor- I’m going out today and I want a good run at it without distractions.

  1. Lovely!!

  2. It’s huge! And what a wonderfully weird imagination the medieval mind had…

  3. that is awesome…. I really mean that… sincerely love it.

  4. Wonderful. And the thought of several more. WOW!
Is the end result going to be a tapestry hanging?

  5. Fabulous. I love it. I wonder why the woman (Queen?) has a red rectangle at the bottom of her skirt. And what is it that the …erm…er…critter on the right is holding that seems to be coming from his ear? Or is one not supposed to ask indelicate questions of medieval beings?

    • The queen is a bishop, dear- you’re getting your chess pieces mixed up. I think it’s meant to be part of his regalia. There are places where I’ve joined creatures together for the sake of design, the little cornucopia creature was originally freestanding in the ms

      • Oh dear, forgive my lapse. I wasn’t aware that any of this was based on chess, but the fog is clearing, the sun may be emerging. Please accept my abject apologies. But you must admit, he is a pretty effeminate-looking bishop 🙂

      • He is very girly, although I’m not sure he has any relevance to chess, not unless there’s a demon piece I was previously unaware of?

  6. I was also wondering about the teletubby-ish screen-like thing on the bottom of the bishops robe…what is that? It’s all amazing and the devils fur is awesome!

  7. This is simply grand, isn’t it? Looking forward to seeing it all at once. What do you plan to do with the finished embroidery? (A set of these would make interesting bed curtains – imagine the dreams they’d inspire!)

  8. Wow!

  9. The stitch along is gorgeous!!!!!! Could I still join in July and ask you to make me a kit? I know your almost done, but I hesitate not knowing what to expect and my self esteem if I could actually do it. Thank you, Sandra
