finished angel

this one won’t be coming to class as it’s gone to a new home.

The incentive behind this one was a whole lot of experiments, including the gold wing feathers. Underside couching gold feather onto silk velvet is hands down one the hardest things I’ve ever done in sewing, now I’ve done it I’m not sure I ever want to do it again.

Overall I’m quite pleased with him though, and I’m glad i did the signature in dark blue silk rather than gold as I’d originally intended.

  1. What! What! We are not going to be able to see that in the thread? I’ve been so much looking forward to that.
I’m incredibly impressed by your applique skills. I struggled with a rectangle never mind a horse with nobbly knees!

    • it’s actaully gone to bristol, so I don’t think it’s far from you, but yes, It’s gone away, sorry

Oh, and I did cock up the applique, I made the bit from split stitch, and then reaslised I couldn’t apply something 2mm wide with corners, so I had to cut it off and re-do it in silver underside couching

  3. Experiments are what we use to learn what we are Never Going To Do Again, aren’t they!

Worth doing, though. I love the gold feathers, and the slightly quizzical look the horse is giving the angel!

  4. Beautiful!
