dressing gown

I saw these palm tree beach towels at M and S last spring and bought two for Gareth. Not for towels, obviously, but because we both hate those fleecy synthetic dressing gowns that are everywhere now.

yesterday I made him this

he refuses to model it for you, but says its his favourite piece of clothing that he’s ever owned, being the right fit, the right colour, and most importantly being plastered with palm fronds.

Using two towels is definitely the wya to go with bath robes – it’s quicker and easier than using towelling fabric bought by the yard, not least because you don’t have to hem anything if you cut it right.

  1. Very clever. I’m not sure you can purchase “printed” towelling fabric by the metre so using towels is a great

    • I made him a plain blue one last year that was twoelling by the metre, and it didn’t come out nearly as nicely as the other three I’ve made wiht towels

  2. I cant figure how its done! Looks very nice!

  3. Genius. But of course the Peanut Gallery wants to see Garth modeling it in bare feet. [loud wolf whistles]

  4. What a very good use for a pair of towels!

  5. What a fantastic idea, I shall be stealing it.

  6. Superb and brilliant idea. I so agree with you about those awful synthetic fleece things. Have been looking for a decent towelling one, but this is such a great idea. I might just have a go myself.
