tea strainer finished

Honestly, I spent three whole hours polishing this the other day, and now I’m looking at it wondering if it needs more polishing.

But, it’s hallmarked, sort of polished, and I got the stones set

Except the stones aren’t actaully stones, they’re little blobs of roman style millifiori glass made by mark and david many years ago. I really liked the teal colour of these two. One of the bezels had warped a little in working, so the blob didn’t quite fit anymore, and I had to file it down with the corundum from my enamelling stuff- it was sort of like sucking a traffic light lolly because the colours started peeling away.

Anyway, I tested it, and it strains tea. Polishing it any more will probably be pointless because all the silver things I’ve ever made gareth are currently black anyway. (He uses them, it’s just that he’s allergic to shiny)

  1. It’s lovely. Just the right amount of detail. And the teal will still look good when the strainer turns black!

  2. Wonderful! And do my eyes deceive me, or are the straining holes shaped like hearts…? (you ol’ softie, you)

  3. Very beautiful artefact indeed, well done

  4. Wow, that’s beautiful!
