underside couching

sometimes I think that when you put a pattern into underside couching, it shows up better on the back than it does on the front?

That basket weave pattern is a complete swine to draw, it’s so eye boggling to draft that sewing it seems comparatively easy

  1. It’s a very effective pattern, worth the effort. My only attempts at underside couching were on countable fabric, so I was counting linen scrim from a chart I had made, not marking the fabric.

    • you’re really better off with a background fabric too fine to count, whihc is why I draw. That pattern did my head in though, my eyes went proper wobbly transferring it

  2. It looks gorgeous whichever way up! I should imagine that once you’ve got your head around drawing it, the stitching seems positively straightforward!
