Lutrell fantasy

I have, in spite of all else, not forgotten the Lutrell fantasy, but I’ve only managed to steal a few hours a week as a treat, so there’s not much to show yet…

  1. and I am the lucky recipient of that beautiful silver pussycat pin a few posts ago-absolutely gorgeous cat-I;m sure hobbes could have made…er…something,,,but I bet it wouldn’t have been half as special as the cat Tanya made me!
thanks you again Tanya-your work is stunning!

  2. Love the sidelong look on the face of that little character in the corner!

  3. More interesting feet – they seem to be dancing.

  4. My dear lady i want to be you when I grow up. You are just an amazing embroiderer and I hope to be as good as you someday.

  5. I am toying with the idea of doing some of the Star Wars characters in your Lutrell Psalter style for a friend who is a S W addict.
Actually could be a small segment of a Bayeaux Tapestry type scene!

    • That sounds fun, there better be piccies

      • I’ve just ordered a Star Wars colouring book to get a jump start on the design ideas. And will have to spend some time with the DVDs to refresh my memory of the ‘iconography’
I think it would be a giggle to do a commentary narrative border like the Bayeaux tapestry has, with medalions for some of the characters.

      • Aren’t there Star Wars toons as well? You will need to watch those for artistic inspiration

  6. Snork -as I emerge three days later: ‘ but it is for *art*…’

  7. My medieval art history prof used to refer to many of the frescos that she showed us as the ‘toons of the period.
